APM Communities has partnered with Filmmaker Martin “Marty” Stevens as Co-Founder of “Empower Real” Storytellers Festival, a mixed media event to celebrate IDPWD based on the universal theme of Access & Inclusion.

Marty is enthusiastic about filmmaking and giving a voice to PWD. Marty advocated for this event to create more opportunities for PWD to participate in filmmaking and storytelling not just in his own community in the Perth, North Metro region but across WA, especially regional and remote communities, to share their stories to “Empower Real”.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest to make Marty’s vision “Real” and to “Empower” Storytellers across WA to make this event a tremendous success.

If Marty’s vision excites you as much as it has inspired APM Communities, then here is how you can get involved.

Application for Empower Real - Storytellers Festival 2024 Volunteer Teams:

Filmmakers and Photographers in WA – Groups or individuals who want to produce a short film or photo story.
Event Day Volunteers– Individuals who would like to be involved on the event day in roles such as meet and greet, tickets, information stall, event set up and set down.

This opportunity is open to people with lived experience of disability.

We would love to have online options available for our regional folks and people who cannot be with us in person, so please apply if you have experience with either (don't be put off by the location).
